You are correct in that replication delivers a replica (go figure) of the
data from the master server to the relica server in real time. There are no
inherant failover capabilities however.

As I mentioned, you can configure replication between servers and it works
great for authentication, but getting a working system for accounting is
another issue altogether as you can only replicate one way. (as far as I
know)

Perhaps SQL 7.0 will address some of these issues.
(failover/cross-replication) I've also heard mention of failover
capabilities forthcoming in future versions of ODBC. I would appreciate
hearing any comments on these features if anybody has any.
