If you want to control bandwidth on an Ethernet connection, I use FreeBSD
with IPFW installed on a 486 with two Nic's and it works fine tell it 384k
and that's all they can pull. You can even do it with PicoBSD on a floppy
and no hard disk.
I installed SNMP on the 486 and graph bandwidth with MRTG.
